Clams and mussels are very cheap here in Thailand and since it was very long time that I have eaten these seashells, I tried cooking.
To prepare the clam soup, you need the following:
Ingredients:
1 Kilo fresh and live clams
1 medium sized ginger, peeled and cut into small strips
2-3 pcs of fresh tomatoes, sliced
1 whole onion, minced
1/2 head garlic, minced
Fist sauce to taste
Cooking oil
Procedure:
Wash the clams thoroughly and let it sit in water for about 20-30 mins. so the clams will expel the sands inside the shell.
In a wok, brown the ginger, garlic and onions. Add the tomatoes. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add the clams and let it boil some more until the shells starts to open. Season with fish sauce to taste. Remove from fire and serve while still hot.
